We’ve put together this handy checklist, you can you save your energy for setting up your new home!

Get into your new address in 3 easy steps

  1. Get your Power on
    Give us a call on 1800 359 797

Please note Flow Power requires 3 business days to switch your power on, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to sign up. 

 

  1. Set up a new address
    We will send you an email or SMS confirming your move and inform you of everything during the moving process.

 

  1. Disconnect your old address
    If you are changing energy companies, contact your old energy provider to disconnect your old address and get your final bill.

If we supplied the energy at your old address, let us know so you don’t receive ongoing bills. 

If you have moved out, but a house mate is staying in the house, make sure you chat to us before you disconnect. 

 

Disconnect your utilities and consider your options 

Make sure you remember to disconnect your gas, water, and electricity before you leave, to ensure you’re not paying for someone else’s amenities. The government offers advice online for movers to avoid problems with disconnecting and reconnecting.  

 

Double-check that you don’t have any outstanding bills to pay so that you can go into the new place with a clean slate. 

 

Moving to a new home can be the perfect opportunity to reflect on whether you could be getting a better deal on things like energy.

Frequently Asked Questions 

  1. Are there any fees for moving house?
    Fees are charged by the distributor when you move house or disconnect your old address. You’ll see these charges on your energy bill.

Connection Fee: appears on your first bill with Flow Power at your new address, between $10 and $100. 

Disconnection Fee: appears on the final bill at your old address, between $12 to $170. 

When disconnecting we will let you know the exact fee. 

 

  1. What if I need an urgent connection?
    For a next business day electricity connection, let us know by 1.00pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Outside these times, or some-day connections, an extra fee will apply. 

 

  1. Do I need to be there for my new address to get connected?
    That depends on where you live and whether or not the property has been disconnected. We will let you know and advise you of what you need to do. Keep an eye out for our emails and SMS.
     
  2. How much notice do you need?
    Each distributor does things differently, to ensure that your move runs smoothly, pick at least 3-4 business days before you are due to move in as the connection date.

 

  1. How do I disconnect my old address?
    Contact your old energy provider to disconnect your old address and get your final bill. If you are with us, send us an email or contact us on 1800 359 797.

 

  1. I’m moving but I don’t want to disconnect my current address?
    Just because you are moving address it does not automatically disconnect your power.

You can keep the address active for as long as you like but you are responsible for the power consumed and you will continue to receive electricity bills from your energy provider. 

If you are leaving the house and would like the responsibility of the account in someone else’s name, get the new account holder to contact your energy provider. If they don’t contact us, you will still be responsible for the bills.
