Matthew is Founder and Managing Director of Flow Power and energy management practice Utilacor. His vision is to create better energy retail options and transform the way the Australia uses energy. Drawing from his deep knowledge and experience in the deregulated United Kingdom energy market, Matthew became heavily involved in the deregulation process in Australia in 1994. He developed the energy management tool kWatch® Intelligent Controller to address the needs of large customers across the National Electricity Market.
In 2009, Matthew began the energy retailer formerly known as Progressive Green Energy that became Flow Power in 2017. Flow Power specialises in addressing the needs of commercial and industrial energy users across the National Electricity Market (NEM) – South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, and Queensland. This innovative business works with homeowners and customers across industries as diverse as cold storage, quarries, agriculture to schools, councils, and iconic Australian organisations to leverage the wholesale electricity market, improve their energy outcomes and support the creation of a renewable energy future.
Chief Operating Officer
Byron Serjeantson has a background in engineering, economics and business, and a wealth of experience in the energy and renewables sectors.
In his 15 years in the industry, he has worked across Australia, the United Kingdom and the Middle East with global engineering firms, Australian renewable developers, and Commonwealth Treasury. Byron is former Director of consulting and engineering business Beast Solutions. He joined Flow Power as part of its acquisition of Beast Solutions in 2019. As Chief Operating Officer, Byron leads the engineering divisions in their delivery of energy projects for customers, as well as the growth and development of Flow Power’s renewable portfolio.
General Counsel & Company Secretary
Jonathan Mitchell has an extensive background in energy and resource law and leads Flow Power’s Legal division, and General Council.
Jonathan Mitchell is an experienced energy and resources lawyer with expertise across major projects, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestments, utilities regulation, commercial contracts, corporate restructuring, electricity and gas supply contracts and carbon advisory. Prior to joining Flow Power in 2019, Jonathan was a Senior Associate at King & Wood Mallesons, specialising in energy, resources and projects.
General Manager, Energy Solutions
Jacob Mahoney has been in the energy industry for over 8 years previously working in Energy Consultancy firms specialising in tenders and customised energy management solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
He has extensive experience in energy consultancy, business development and account management. Jacob is passionate about providing customers with real energy solutions that deliver excellent value to customers, ones that can give them competitive advantage in their energy. His dedication to customers is of the highest level implementing strategies that resulted in retention rates of >90% of Flow Power’s load under management.
General Manager Human Resources
David O’Connor commenced consulting with Flow Power in 2012 when there were only a few employees. David built Flow Power’s HR framework to support the extensive expansion into the business it has become today.
Preceding his appointment as General Manager Human Resources in February 2015. His background includes 20+ years in senior management positions across legal, banking & finance, energy and education sectors. He brings extensive knowledge to Flow Power; day-to-day HR Management and specialises in Industrial Relations and Remuneration & Benefits.
