New South Wales

There are several concessions available to Flow Power customers in New South Wales. Please see below for more information on the types of concessions, eligibility and information about how to apply.

Low-income Household Rebate

The Low-Income Household Rebate provides a rebate to eligible customers on their electricity bill, calculated at a daily rate. The amount of concession applied to each bill will vary according to the number of days within the billing period and is capped at $285 per year. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this concession, a customer must hold a valid concession card. Valid concession cards include: 

  • DHS Pensioner Concession Card 
  • DHS Health Care Card 
  • DVA Gold Card 
  • DVA Pensioner Concession Card 

The customer can only claim a concession on their principal place of residence. The address on the concession card will be taken to be the customer’s principal place of residence.

Family Energy Rebate

The Family Energy Rebate was introduced by the NSW government in 2012 to assist family households pay their electricity bills. The Family Energy Rebate provides a rebate of $180 a year to eligible customers that do not hold a DHS Concession Card or Health Care Card. 

Eligibility

For the  the rebate to be applied the following must be verified:

  • Account number and NMI need to match 
  • Only SURNAME must  match 
  • Residential accounts only 
  • Accounts must be open (not closed)

Medical cooling concession

The Medical Energy Rebate is designed to assist people who  are unable to self-regulate body temperature due to  medical conditions (such as Multiple Sclerosis or Peripheral Vascular Disease). This per annum rebate will be applied to eligible customers on their electricity bill, calculated at a daily rate. The level of concession applied to each bill will vary according to the number of days within the billing period. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this concession, a customer must hold a valid concession card. Valid concession cards include: 

  • DHS Pensioner Concession Card 
  • DHS Health Care Card 
  • DVA Gold Card 
  • DVA Pensioner Concession Card 

You can apply for the Medical Energy Rebate if you or someone living at the address of the eligible customer: 

  • Is resident in New South Wales 
  • Holds one of the above eligible concession cards cards 
  • Provides a completed NSW Medical Energy Rebate form that is signed by a registered medical practitioner to verify that either the customer named on the bill or anyone residing at the residence  is unable to self-regulate body temperature. 

Application

Flow Power needs to receive a completed Medical Energy Rebate application form from the customer that is signed by a registered medical practitioner to verify that either the customer named on the bill or anyone residing at the residence is unable to self-regulate body temperature. 

Life Support Rebate

The Life Support Rebate is provided to assist customers who require the use of specific life support machines in their home. The rebate provides a daily rate discount that varies depending on the type of machine required for life support purposes. 

Eligibility

  • Be resident in New South Wales 
  • Provide a completed NSW Life Support equipment form that is signed by a registered medical practitioner to verify that the use of the approved life support equipment is required at the principal place of residence 
  • Note: The customer does not need to have a concession card to be eligible for this rebate but must provide Flow Power with a completed Life Support application form that is signed by a registered medical practitioner. A new form must be resubmitted by the customer every 2 years to continue to receive the rebate. 

Application

Flow Power need to receive a completed Life Support application form from the customer that is signed by a registered medical practitioner confirming their use of a life support machine. 

Senior Energy Rebate

The Senior Energy Rebate is an electricity program provided by the NSW Government effective from 01/07/2019. Customers who hold a Commonwealth Seniors Card will receive a $200.00 rebate deposited into the applicant’s bank account by Service NSW from 1st October 2019. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this concession, a customer must hold a valid concession card. Valid concession cards include: 

  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card 

Please note the name on the concession card must match the name of the account holder on the energy account. 

Only one rebate will be paid per household, for the principal place of residence. 

Application

The Senior Energy Rebate must be claimed directly by NSW. From 1 July 2019, customers can make an application online either via service.nsw.gov.au, or at an online kiosk at a Service NSW Centre.  

Appointments can be made with Service NSW by calling 13 77 88. 

A customer must provide Service NSW with the following at the time of application: 

  1. National Metering Identifier Number 
  1. Commonwealth Seniors Health Card number and expiry date 
  1. Retailer name (Flow Power) 
  1. An email address 

A lump sum payment of $200.00 will be paid to the electricity account holder’s nominated bank account.

Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) vouchers

If you’re having difficulty paying your current household energy bill because of a short-term financial crisis or emergency such as unexpected medical bills or reduced income due to COVID-19, you could be eligible for an Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) $50 voucher. 

EAPA vouchers are sent electronically to Flow Power to help pay your home electricity account. Applying for EAPA vouchers involves an eligibility assessment by a NSW Government representative or an approved non-government EAPA provider. 

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • have an electricity account for a NSW residential address, which is your primary place of residence, and an account that is active at the time of your assessment (all other accounts are not eligible) 
  • be the electricity account holder (your account and bill must be in your name) 
  • be experiencing a short-term financial crisis or emergency that has caused you financial hardship and impacted your ability to pay your current residential energy bill (in part or in full).

  3. Log in or create a MyServiceNSW Account 
  4. Follow the prompts to submit your application
